Neighbors and community members came together on Saturday, October 20th, to help celebrate the unveiling of the first community-fundraised Big Belly solar trash and recycling receptacle in the neighborhood at the corner of Reed & Hicks Sts. Trash and recycling was swept up from the surrounding blocks, and both Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and State Rep. Elect Jordan Harris stopped by to speak to our volunteers and help mark the occasion.
A very special thanks to everyone who donated their time and money to make this happen. This may be the first Big Belly that NNA members have helped bring to the neighborhood, but it won't be the last! In addition to the other Cleaning and Greening efforts NNA is involved in, the Big Belly Challenge is a way to make a lasting, functional addition to our streetscapes.
