NNA Name Change Discussion
Tuesday, November 13th
1401 South 16th Street (Reed Street Presbyterian Apts)
After much soul searching and outreach to the greater Point Breeze community, including elected officials and other civic leaders, the Executive Board of the Newbold Neighbors Association (NNA) has voted to start an open process to discuss changing the name of our organization. This decision is not taken lightly and stems from many considerations, most importantly that our organization has grown and developed over the last 5 years into something bigger than just a few neighbors trying to make change. Thus, NNA has hit a important point of its evolution, increasing its needs and participation with the greater community.
We must go through this decision-making process together as a united organization and determine what is best for our group and the community overall. The next step is to host a special community meeting to discuss the potential name change of the organization or reaffirm the name we have.
The Agenda of this meeting will be the following:
- NNA Executive Board to brief the general membership on its outreach efforts and thoughts behind re-naming
- Nomination of potential new names
- Determine next steps
- Open discussion
If you have questions or are unable to attend, please send your thoughts and opinions to board president Andrew Marx for reading during the meeting.
